We think this is a first – Wangkatjungka Community will create their own music-based program to improve mental health in the community – their way, their language, their ideas. Desert Feet have partnered with Murdoch University researcher Dr Petra Skeffington to help guide and evaluate the outcomes. It starts next week!
Week 1 of the June 2017 Desert Feet Tour… We had two missions: run a program at the two primary schools in Newman, and inspire and engage young folks at the East Pilbara Youth Centre after school. Schools Program The brief – blend musical inspiration with some education, add liberal doses […]
Last year some time, Pip, the Community Development Manager at East Pilbara Shire, and his side-kick chased me down as I was driving the Desert Feet Troopy through Nullagine, on the way home from a Desert Feet Tour. They saw the Troopy, busted a U-ey and flagged me down. It’s […]

We landed in Telfer yesterday, drove 5 hours to get here in Nullagine, slept. TODAY we kicked off the workshops – Louise took the lead, we played music games that broke the ice and teach beat and rhythm skills without you even knowing it! One of my favourite was this […]
In a former life I could have classified these amazing organisms to their taxonomic family or even genus level…but that knowledge has faded behind the need to just admire them for their beauty. It’s more eloquent than me! These pics were taken during a brief roadside stop on the road […]
It’s Day 1 of the very first Desert Feet Tour School Holiday Program. I’m writing this on the Alliance Airlines flight that services the Telfer Gold Mine FIFO operation. It’s also Day 1 of my first time coordinating a Tour without our star Tour boss Emily Minchin. “Em, what’s the […]
